National Junior Honor Society & National Honor Society
The Cottonwood School is pleased to be a member of the National Junior Honor Society and the National Honor Society.
- National Junior Honor Society is open to students in 9th grade who have a qualifying GPA of 3.0.
- National Honor Society is open to students in the 10th-12th grade who have a qualifying GPA of 3.5.
Our yearly application for membership is by invitation and occurs each fall. Students who qualify on GPA will receive a prospective member packet. Students will be selected by the faculty board on the evaluation of their completed documents, essay and video introduction. Following acceptance, students and families will be invited to the Induction meeting where students will receive formal membership into the honor group.
Both honor groups will focus on the four pillars of Academics, Leadership, Service, and Character. Students will be encouraged to participate in school-wide service projects and develop leadership roles within the school community.
Students will be required to meet monthly, participate in schoolwide, and individual service projects. Active participation and minimum GPA as noted above are required to maintain membership.
